Starry Eyed

the world through my eyes.

I’m not the same person I was before I came to Italy.

Different languages make you think differently, just in the way one speaks… The way of life is even embedded into the grammar.

In English we ask “how old are you?” As if one has a timer that is counting down.

In Italian they ask “quanti anni hai?” Which translates to “how many years do you have?” as if a year of life is a possession.

I like that. It is a shift of perspective in seeing growing older as a good thing. A collection of experiences and adventure, rather than regarding growing old as one regards milk past the expiration date.
